Joint personnel from PPSU, SDA Task Force, Satpol PP, Environmental Task Force, Gulkarmat, and BPBD, were deployed to handle inundation at some locations in the Kayu Putih Urban Village area, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, Thursday (2/29).
We have operated all the stationary pumps
Kayu Putih Urban Village Head, Tuti Sugihastuti stated the inundation occurred due to the overflow of the IKIP Connecting Channel and the heavy rain that fell from early morning until this morning.
According to her, as many as 100 PPSU personnel assisted by other elemental personnel were deployed to some inundation locations in residential areas and on highways.
Joint Personnel Deployed to Handle Puddles in Rawa TerateAmong them were Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan Kayu Putih Selatan, Jalan Pulomas Timur Raya, and some points. They clean up waste that clogs water channels and help regulate traffic.
"We send them to clean up waste, regulate traffic and so on," she said.
She explained the locations affected by inundation were spread across parts of RW 09, 12, 14, 15, and 16. The worst condition was in RW 15, five RTs were affected by inundation with 50 centimeters high, then in RT 08/16 with around 60 centimeters high.
"Thus far, no residents have evacuated, as they are staying in their homes," she explained.
She added her party had coordinated with the East Jakarta Social Sub-agency and PMI to send ready-to-eat food aid. Because residents cannot cook under current conditions.
East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA)'s Facilities Management Section Head, Ikhwan Maulani added his party had operated three stationary pumps at Pulomas Pump House and two other pumps at Pulomas Pump House.
Yet, the high water discharge of the Sunter River in Kelapa Gading Barat, North Jakarta, meant that not all inundation points could be handled.
"In essence, we have operated all the stationary pumps in the two pump houses. The problem is that the Sunter River has high water levels and heavy rain," he stated.
